The Care Center was carefully designed to ensure an environment where patient's and their families would feel comfortable and have all the amenities of home.  The Living Room is the perfect place to relax with a book from our library.  There is a computer with internet access so you can stay in touch with friends and family who live far way.  Several of the items in the Living Room were donated by residents of Kitsap County, who realized how much our community needed this facility for those facing the end of life and for their loved ones.

At the Care Center, our social workers and specially trained volunteers are available around the clock to support family members and friends of terminally ill hospice patients in coming to terms with their grief, and working through the healing process in their own individual ways.

Anticipating that younger children would also be frequent visitors to the Care Center, we had a room designed specifically for them.  There are board games, books, a TV and various card games available.  This can be an especially difficult time for the younger members of the family and a few minutes of being able to just be a kid can help.

For the patient and their loved ones, the grief process begins with the terminal diagnosis, as everyone begins to contemplate the many losses ahead.  Family members and friends may need a moment to be alone and reflect in the Meditation Room/Chapel.  With it's calming water feature, soft lighting and comfortable furnishings, it is the perfect place to find some solace.

The Care Center features 15 private patient rooms.  Each room is equipped with a sink, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and toaster in the kitchenette.  The rooms also feature a cafe' table with two chairs, a recliner and a sofa bed which allows family or friends to stay overnight whenever they choose.

Each of our patient rooms include a telephone, flat screen television, DVD player and a radio with an Ipod docking station.  We have also provided a memory board in each room which gives our patients a place to display cherished photos, greeting cards and special mementos.  Residents of the Care Center are encouraged to bring their own comfortable clothing, and personal items such as pictures, favorite books, DVD's, CD's and comfort items.  Please leave any valuables (cash, credit cards, jewelry, etc.) at home, as Hospice of Kitsap County cannot assume responsibility.
