Ways to Give

Gifts of Cash
The most common method of giving is through a check payable to Hospice of Kitsap County, or making a charge on your credit card. Checks should be mailed to PO Box 3416, Silverdale, WA 98383, or use your Visa or MasterCard (sorry, we do not accept American Express) by calling our office at (360) 698-4611.  You may also make donations on-line by clicking on the link above and using Pay Pal.  Your gift can be given in memory or honor of a friend or loved one and all gifts are tax deductible.

Gift by Will

One of the simplest ways to distribute your estate is through a will. After providing for your loved ones you can make a charitable bequest to Hospice of Kitsap County of a specified dollar amount, specific property, or a percentage of your estate.

Gift in Trust or Annuities
A trust or annuity can provide tax advantages and a lifetime income for you depending upon the terms of the agreement.
Gifts of Appreciated Securities, Stocks, or Bonds
These gifts can provide considerable tax advantages when transferred to Hospice of Kitsap County before they are sold. If you have held your securities for more than one year, you may find that your gift will provide a twofold tax benefit, creating an income-tax deduction as well as helping avoid the capital-gains tax that would have been due on their sale.
If you wish to transfer stocks from a broker’s account, have your broker contact Mark Hartman at 360-613-1986 or tollfree at 800-447-6021.

Gift of Life Insurance
A gift of life insurance offers an opportunity to make a substantial contribution that you might otherwise be unable to make. If a paid up life insurance policy is no longer needed for family protection, you can give it to Hospice of Kitsap County, and you, as the donor, may qualify for an immediate tax deduction. If you continue to pay the premiums on a policy after naming Hospice as the policy beneficiary, those payments may be deductible as charitable contributions.

Gift of Real Estate
You can make a gift of a house or other real property, outright, or in trust (perhaps while retaining the use of the property for as long as you live). Your gift may allow you to realize a tax deduction and avoid capital gains taxes. All gifts of real property, however, must be accepted by the Board of Trustees to protect Hospice of Kitsap County from liabilities.

Gifts in Kind
Gifts of personal property can provide a tax deduction for you while benefiting Hospice of Kitsap County. Gifts of this nature may include medical and office equipment and other items of value.

Gift of a Vehicle
We have established an arrangement with Donate For Charity to process our vehicle donations. Donate For Charity arranges a free vehicle pickup, handles all the DMV issues, sells the vehicle at auction, and distributes the net proceeds to Hospice of Kitsap County. By donating you'll avoid the headache of selling a used vehicle, help support Hospice, and receive a receipt entitling you to a tax deduction. When you're ready to donate, or want to learn more, simply call Donate for Charity toll-free at (866) 392-4483 or donate online at www.donateforcharity.com.
